EIT Food is a young and fast-growing organisation working towards a more more sustainable and healthy food system in Europe that is trusted by consumers. It is one of eight Innovation Communities established by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an independent EU body set up in 2008, to drive innovation and entrepreneurship across Europe.

EIT Food is a member organisation bringing together key industry players, agri-food startups, research centres and universities from across Europe representing the food value chain in Europe. In addition to thematic leadership, EIT Food is also responsible for coordinating a multi-million euro EU grant allocation from the EIT and distributing it among its partners and stakeholders for the implementation of cooperation projects. It also manages other grants and donor funding opportunities on behalf of the Partnership.

EIT Food headquarters (HQ) are based in Leuven (Belgium) and it has 5 regional offices (Co-Location Centres or CLCs) in Europe (based in Poland, Spain, Germany, the UK and Belgium), each working with and for partners in several EIT Food partner countries.

LOCATION

The selected candidate will be based at EIT Food HQ in Leuven (Belgium). Occasional travel to the regional offices within Europe can be expected.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is a new role within the organisation, aimed at ensuring the implmenetation of a coordinated IT infrastructure across EIT Food HQ and the 5 regional offices (CLCs). The IT Project Manager will be primarily responsible and accountable for analyzing, developing and implementing the IT infrastructure of EIT Food, supporting all operational and strategic functions of the organisation. You will be responsible for developing and managing technology projects, including their budget, time and scope. You will report to the COO of the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In particular, the IT Project Manager will be responsible for the below tasks:

  • Drive the overall IT process in terms of strategic vision and operational setup, ensuring smooth integration of tools and programs through the establishment of an IT Roadmap;
  • Coordinate the selection and implementation of IT tools and applications for staff (internal) and Partners (external) based on user needs and strategic goals (for example, setup of the CRM system with a service provider);
  • Support with the development of an EIT Food Data Strategy;
  • Implement, potentially with third parties, the setup of the initial EIT Food database to support teams in user-friendly dashboarding, reporting, and monitoring of performance and financial data;
  • Act as first point of contact for internal (staff) and external (Partner) queries related to EIT Food IT systems, to be resolved with the service providers;
  • Provide training to staff and Partners on using IT systems and platforms.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • You hold a degree in IT or related field;
  • You have a track record of successful IT Projects delivered in matrix organisations;
  • Experienced in IT infrastructure management, you are capable of translating user needs into operational building blocks supported by IT tools;
  • Passionate about usability of platforms and IT tools, you have previous experience in user usability, information management and data analysis/structuring in a client-facing role;
  • You have previous experience in driving cross-functional IT projects that show your capacity in bringing solutions to various users with a service-provider mindset.

  • You are committed to operational excellence: you implement IT applications but also monitor quality and performance by conducting system audits of technologies implemented, maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organisation standards;
  • Your project management skills have taught you to be flexible and focused: you enjoy complex problems and delivering short and long-term solutions to teams across various business units;
  • You enjoy a fast-paced organisation and are able to drive change management in a structured and process-driven fashion;
  • You possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, you master English as well as an additional European language (French or Dutch a significant plus).
