EDFI Management Company (EDFI MC) is a specialised management company with a public mission to support market development in low- and middle-income countries and to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. EDFI MC manages delegated funding from the EU through various blending instruments. We deliver development finance solutions that enable European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and private sector investors to increase the scale and impact of their work by investing more and in higher risk opportunities than would otherwise be possible.
EDFI MC was established in 2016 by the 15 European DFIs as a full subsidiary of the EDFI Association based in Brussels. The company is a dynamic organisation that is continuing to develop its product offering and building its internal capacities to successfully execute on its mission. It is currently mandated to run several financing instruments and facilities: ElectriFI, AgriFI, the T&C facility guarantee, ICCF, EFP and two upcoming EFSD guarantees www.edfimc.eu.
EDFI Management Company is looking forward to further strengthening the Operation and Impact team by hiring a Sustainability Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and report ESG sustainability and impact
- Support regular reporting and communication to keep the European Commission, the clients and all other relevant stakeholders informed of the impact of the facilities deals and portfolio;
- Working directly with investment officers; manage databases, develop a global risk map and update impact database in order to facilitate monitoring;
- Support implementation of the Disclosure Policy and participate in external communication and stakeholder engagement when E&S related content is triggered.
Evaluate and address Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues
- Conduct due diligence and monitoring of ESG issues for potential transactions. This includes drafting investment paper comments; assisting in negotiating ESG conditions; assessing the impact and E&S risks of investment proposals and placing them in the appropriate risk category; and ensure that E&S conditions are added to the contracts;
- Make recommendations to improve ESG practices of investment facilities’ portfolio;
- Support investment officers to ensure the implementation of ESG action plans.
Promote the value of ESG sustainability and impact measurement within the market
- Build expertise on broad ESG issues;
- Exchange information and coordinate with other agencies when necessary in order to gain more information and best practices.
YOUR PROFIL
- You own a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Energy Management, Social Sciences or have acquired this knowledge by experience;
- You have minimum 3 years of professional experience within development finance, environmental consulting, banking or the investment/consulting industry;
- A proven experience in impact monitoring and familiarity with the IFC Performance Standards is a plus;
- Work or travel in developing countries is an asset;
- Self-starter, creative, pragmatic, result oriented;
- Strong client relationship, communication, and project management skills;
- Communications and writing skills in English is required, French and/or Spanish are an asset.
