Position purpose

The Associate undertakes in-depth research into various sectors, entities and markets relating to the bank’s countries and areas of operation to support its core processes of project preparation, monitoring and analysis, as well as formulation of strategies. The Associate prepares and distributes regular information updates on economic trends and key developments in the Black Sea region. The Associate also conducts searches into the identity, reputation, and commercial and political interests of parties with whom the bank intends to conduct business.

Key functions and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director, DER, the Associate:

  • monitors selected business information sources and provides daily current awareness information services;
  • provides ad hoc research support to project teams and financial analysts in the course of project preparation, monitoring and analysis;
  • performs compliance checks for prospective and existing clients, as well as Enhanced Due Diligence checks, focusing on providing accurate information on financial integrity and the reputation of the client, as an integral required part of the Customer Due Diligence process;
  • maintains the historical and current statistical information database on BSTDB member countries, providing consolidated and updated statistical information;
  • maintains the Business Intelligence part of the Bank’s intranet;
  • provides assistance to the bank’s staff in locating electronic and printed sources and in the use of bank’s information resources.

Required knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • College or first University degree, or equivalent, in Information/Library Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration, Marketing or Statistics;
  • At least 5 years of working experience in conducting market related research using a wide variety of business information sources (Google, etc.);
  • Knowledge of market data and other information sources;
  • Knowledge of the bank’s regions and sectors;
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, emerging market economies and related data sources;
  • Ability to exercise judgment and analytical skills;
  • Information mining and retrieval skills;
  • Excellent time management and ability to multi-task under pressure;
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Highly literate with excellent writing skills.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A postgraduate degree or a professional qualification in Information Management;
  • Knowledge of databases such as Factiva, World-Check 1, EMIS, etc.;
  • Experience in the region of the BSTDB’s operations;
  • Experience in an international development financial institution.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

For a candidate to participate in the competitive selection for this position, s/he must meet at least the following minimum requirements:

  • At least a College or first University degree, or equivalent;
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience.
