Fairtrade International, the global association that provides the FAIRTRADE Mark as part of its work for fairer global trade, is seeking a new independent board member, to be elected at its next General Assembly in June 2021. Our work brings together supply chain actors, community enterprises, development NGO’s, researchers and civil society organisations. We certify products and promote our label to consumers and business, and we also deliver programmes on living incomes, gender equity and climate change.
Our board members provide strategic direction to help us achieve our vision of a world in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfil their potential and decide on their future. For this vacancy, we encourage applications from people with senior commercial experience, particularly in FMCG sectors such as food and drink, and clothing & textiles. You should have a thorough understanding of sustainability issues and an appreciation of the role that voluntary standards systems can play in addressing them. Familiarity with trends in digital tools and data management by businesses and the opportunities for applying these in Fairtrade’s work would be a distinct advantage.
You will join us in the first year of implementing a new global strategy which builds on Fairtrade’s success over the past 30 years as a globally recognised and trusted sustainability assurance system, working with nearly 2 million small farmers and workers across Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are recognised as a partner in delivering the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those for inclusive economic growth, decent work and sustainable production & consumption.
For further information on the role and how to apply, please follow click on the link below to download the recruitment pack. The closing date for applications is 17:00 CET on Monday 17th May 2021.
Please be informed that the position will require approximately 2 days per month of your time and is unremunerated (only travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed when attending the Board meetings).
If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please e-mail nominations@fairtrade.net and we will arrange a call with a member of our Nominations Committee.
