The organisation's Office of Resource Development raises private support for strategic priority projects from individuals, foundations and companies and is looking for a new Resource Development Manager.

Fundraising for Science and Research - Join the Team!

Your role

You will cultivate and steward your own prospect and donor portfolio with a clear focus on major gifts and take responsibility for developing and executing a strategy and plan to generate fundraising income from your portfolio. You will actively support and in some cases take lead responsibility for shared team activities such as working with senior volunteers, conceptualisation of fundraising events, projects and and programmes, communications, internal engagement and strategic enabler projects.

As Resource Development Manager, you will report to the Head of Resource Development and work closely with all other members of the fundraising team.

Main responsibilities

• Communicate the organisation's case for support and the strategic importance of its fundraising projects in German and English;
• Cooperate with expert scientists and project leaders to ensure that fundraising projects are prepared and executed professionally;
• Cooperate with the prospect researcher on identifying and researching major gift prospects (individuals, foundations, companies,) in Germany, Europe and beyond;
• Develop and implement individual cultivation and stewardship strategies for prospects and donors;
• Manage cultivation and stewardship events and activities for major donors and prospects, working closely with the Resource Development Events and Stewardship Coordinator;
• Cooperate with the prospect researcher on maintaining the organisation's fundraising database;
• Take part - and in some cases the lead - in the Department's overall implementation projects of its ambitious growth strategy.

You have

Qualifications and Experience

• Min. 3 years of professional experience in successful major gift fundraising, ideally covering individual philanthropists, Trusts and Foundations and companies;
• Familiarity with techniques of major donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship;
• Excellent command of both written and spoken German and English;
• Experience in preparing and writing persuasive letters, proposals, reports and presentations in German and English;
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally;
• Relevant university degree.

You might also have:

• Good command of an additional European language is desirable;
• Knowledge of the German and ideally also other fundraising landscapes would be beneficial;
• Training in a science discipline is not required, but beneficial.
