EuroMed Rights is looking for a dynamic, dedicated and experienced Project Finance Officer, who will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring financial records of Brussels based project.

Tasks and assignments

The Project Finance Officer will work under priorities set up by the Finance and Administration Director, will report to Project Finance Controller in Copenhagen and will collaborate on a regular basis with project staff; including implementing partners.

The Project Finance Officer will be responsible for:

  • (EU and other donor) project budgeting, monitoring, budget amending, and (consolidated) interim/final financial report preparation and submission – of both, EuroMed Rights project expenses, and partner expenses;
  • Assist in calculation of units and unit cost in both budgeting and reporting phases;
  • Being responsible for (a) project related cash advances to both partners and staff members, (b)per diem calculations, (c) (travel) reimbursement requests, (d) credit card reports, and (e) cash reconciliations;
  • Assisting with raising invoices and contacting debtors;
  • Checking/verifying accuracy and coding of invoices/payment requests;
  • Drafting donor reports;
  • Liaising with budget holders – proactively and upon request;
  • Supporting/preparing files for project audits and assisting with general audits;
  • Participating in Brussels based projects budget preparation and contributing to annual organisational budget process;
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly expense monitoring reports;
  • Assisting in monthly quarterly and year end reconciliations;
  • Participation in updating the finance manual and proposals for improving financial procedures;
  • Other duties assigned by the Finance and Administration Director.

Profile, skills and background

  • Minimum 2 years of professional accounting and finance experience working with donor-funded programs;
  • Proven experience working with EU-Grant policies and procedures (including an understanding of units, unit cost – how to budget and report) is considered as an asset;
  • Knowledge of the NGO sector (preferably at an international level);
  • Experienced user of Excel – Preferably including pivot tables and look up formulas;
  • Knowledge of accounting application (preferably Navision);
  • Proficient in oral and written French and English;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as facilitation and technical skills;
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks;
  • Motivated, organised and a self-starter.
