SolarPower Europe is a member-led association representing the European solar PV sector. SolarPower Europe’s aim is to ensure that more energy is generated by solar than any other energy source by 2030 and lead our members to make solar the core of a smart, sustainable and inclusive energy system. We are an award-winning association and have over 200 members spanning 35 countries. We aim to produce thought-leading energy market analysis and support the business of our members through creative and successful advocacy campaigns.

SolarPower Europe is committed to promoting the energy transition globally. Our Emerging Markets Task Force, consisting of more than 60 companies, is involved in over a dozen countries outside Europe with the aim to identify and create solar business opportunities. We are cooperating with international organisations such as the European Commission, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), as well as local organisations, to promote solar, share industry best practices, support local capacity building and accelerate the energy transition in countries outside Europe.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to assist in our growing international cooperation unit. The international cooperation unit, which is part of the Policy Department, supports the Emerging Markets Task Force’s various activities such as the development of market reports and participation in various international initiatives. The international cooperation unit is also in charge of the acquisition and implementation of international cooperation projects and assignments. The goal of this internship is to support in building up an international cooperation department within SolarPower Europe. A successful internship could potentially lead to a full-time job offer.

This internship is a perfect opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to work in a continuously evolving market and develop knowledge of solar PV while strengthening project management skills in the field of international development cooperation.

This is a 6-month paid internship.

Main tasks

The International Cooperation Intern will assist the Director of Global Affairs and the International Cooperation team in:

  • Supporting the International Cooperation team to deliver high-quality market reports and technical papers in a timely manner.
  • Support the coordination of the Supply Chain Transparency working group and the development of a supply chain monitoring programme.
  • Implementation of international cooperation projects such as writing reports on solar energy policy, business and technology and the organisation of workshops virtually or physically.
  • Prepare briefing notes, presentations and relevant materials in relation to various topics related to solar.
  • Create, maintain and extend a strong network in the field of international development cooperation in renewable energy.
  • Contribute to the content of SolarPower Europe’s communication channels such as the newsletter, social media, website.
  • Performing any other tasks or duties required as applicable.

Profile

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, International Development Cooperation, Economics, Political Science, Renewable Energy or similar.
  • Some technical knowledge about renewable energy technology, supply chain due diligence, markets, policy, regulation, international cooperation.
  • Some relevant work experience in the form of previous internships, traineeships, volunteering experience etc.
  • Demonstrated project management and coordination skills.
  • Good networking skills.
  • Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, French. Other languages are an asset.

Conditions of SPE internship

  • A 6-months’ ‘Convention d’Immersion Professionel’, or Internship contract.  Possibility to renew for an additional 6 months.
  • A standard monthly reimbursement for expenses of €1.000,
  • Reimbursement for public transportation,
  • Lunch vouchers of 8€ per day worked (with a participation of €1.09/voucher),
  • Conditional on approval of the internship by Brussels Formation (SPE will manage the request)
  • For students, a signed Convention de Stage (a tripartite agreement signed by SolarPower Europe, the intern and his/her university or college) is foreseen
