Do you want to help make the world a better place with your strong knowledge of the EU enlargement policies and excellent EU policy advocacy skills? We are seeking a one year fixed-term Policy Analyst based in Brussels to provide high level analysis and EU advocacy on Eurasia (Eastern Partnership countries and Central Asia), and will cover enlargement (Western Balkans and Turkey) as needed.

As a Policy Analyst at Open Society, you will:
- Build contacts and strong working relationships with relevant EU officials as well as member-state representatives in Brussels;
- Hold relevant advocacy events in Brussels. Organise advocacy trips with partners and experts to Brussels, and sometimes member-state capitals, and attend and speak at public events;
- Understand, monitor and influence EU policy-making processes and political debates relevant to OSF; develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence EU policymakers, as well as relevant member-state governments;
- Research and write substantive analytical and advocacy documents on EU external policies in the given geographical areas;
- Liaise and maintain constructive relationships with relevant NGOs, think-tanks, academics and other stakeholders in policy communities to facilitate access to EU policymakers, and provide support in developing materials targeting EU policymakers;
- Actively participate in OSEPI’s external policy team, broader policy team and all-office retreats, training, and development;
- Draft regular updates and policy documents for OSF senior management in collaboration with the head of the external policy team, the deputy director and director.
What we are looking for:
- Deep knowledge of the EU and Eurasia region and understanding of EU policy processes; advocacy experience in Brussels, extensive contacts in the EU institutions, Brussels-based NGOs, think tanks, and in the field;
- Experience working in government, EU or international institutions, NGOs, think tank, or academia relevant to EU policy advocacy and/or the Eurasia;
- High professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work with colleagues from diverse backgrounds; diplomatic and professional manner in interactions with senior management, colleagues and external interlocutors;
- Strong knowledge of Open Society issues including human rights, civil society, justice, minority rights, transparency, and accountability;
- Excellent written and spoken English;
- Good working knowledge of Russian and other regional languages would be a strong advantage but is not required.
