Do you want to help make the world a better place with your advocacy experience in EU Foreign Policy? We are seeking a Policy Analyst based in Brussels, Belgium for a 9-month fixed term contract.

The OSEPI works to influence and inform decision-making on EU laws, policy and funding to ensure that Open Society values lie at the heart of what the EU does, both inside and outside its borders.
As a Policy Analyst at Open Society, you will:
- Conceive, execute, and revise complex research on issues of climate justice, trade, and economic justice in EU foreign policy that can lead to long-term advocacy strategies in pursuit of OSEPI’s strategic goals;
- Work closely with OSEPI’s partner thematic and regional programs and foundations in the OSF network, in particular the Eurasia, Latin America and Africa regional offices, as well as the Economic Justice Program;
- Provide a high level of analysis of policy developments, both in the EU and wider developments that will impact on the EU;
- Develop and implement an outreach strategy to policy communities and other stakeholders in EU institutions and Member State governments;
- Identify opportunities for broad coalitions for influence and represent OSEPI to key stakeholders in the EU institutions and Member State governments in collaboration with EXPO’s colleagues;
- Draft policy briefs, position papers and other communications material as well as participate in public events and policy debates to further OSEPI’s advocacy;
- Contribute substantially to OSEPI and OSF-wide strategies development.
What we are looking for:
- Proven record of successfully developing and implementing advocacy based on research and analysis;
- Good knowledge of the European Union, including institutions, factors, processes and policies; and of public policy and what influences it;
- Good understanding of recent foreign policy developments particularly in the areas of development, trade and climate change;
- Well established network and ability to work with key stakeholders in EU institutions, civil society, and research communities in Brussels and beyond;
- Willingness and ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders inside and outside OSF and understanding of coalition work;
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English, including drafting and editing skills;
- Fluency in other European languages is desirable but not required.
