Call for Applications: Application Architect

The European Medicines Verification Organization (EMVO) is the Brussels-based organisation responsible for the formation of the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS). The EMVS is a European-wide system created to prevent falsified medicines from entering the legal supply chain. 

EMVO was created in 2015 as a joint initiative of EU supply chain stakeholders, representing pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesalers, community pharmacists and hospitals. EMVO ensures the implementation of a functioning, secure, interoperable and cost-effective system across Europe, to ensure patient health and safety.

A fantastic opportunity is available for an Application Architect to join our team.

You will make a critical contribution to the successful running of the EMVS and be involved in a project that is of vital importance to the European pharmaceutical sector and all European citizens.

Reporting to EMVO’s Head of Operations, you will be working in a small team with other IT-specialists and will become an expert in the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) and help to ensure the interoperability of the entire EMVS system.

Your main tasks:

  • To be part of the Change Advisory Board.
  • To define and ensure the technical (evolution of the) EMVO System Landscape/Architecture
  • To ensure the technical interoperability of the cloud based EMVS Ecosystem.
  • To closely collaborate with the System Suppliers and ensure the quality of the software development.
  • To understand the infrastructural needs of the EMVO systems, in order to steer and monitor the System Suppliers.
  • To guide these System Suppliers to innovate in time.
  • To provide advice to the design/architectural and technical decisions.
  • To understand the cost model of developing, maintaining and operating the System.
  • To share/transfer your expertise with the colleagues of EMVO and to help them in their day-to- day support and incident management activities.

Skills & Competencies

  • At least 5 years’ experience as an Application Architect / Engineer
  • Broad technological background of several technological environments, certainly Microsoft.NET and Azure.
  • Enhanced infrastructural knowledge, especially cloud based.
  • Capable of defining the technical system requirements.
  • Capable to provide technical guidance to the Software Supplier(s)
  • Solid experience in communicating in an international environment.
  • Capacity to communicate at any level of an organization
  • Good presentation skills
  • Fluent in English and at least 1 other European Language.
  • Excellent team-work and motivational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Flexibility, proactivity and a focus on results.
