This is a new position at the Brussels-based Secretariat of the Eurochild network, created to support development & implementation of Eurochild’s membership strategy. The Membership and Network Development Officer will be responsible for membership administration & database development, facilitation of membership recruitment & engagement, & strengthening capacity & engagement of Eurochild national partner networks. He/she will have coordination responsibilities across the team to support a listening culture, responsive to & inclusive of members, ensuring effective monitoring & feedback mechanisms to help track members’ involvement.
The specific responsibilities of the Membership and Network Development Officer will include & relate to:
- Membership administration & development of membership database, tools & practices;
- Working with the communications team on membership communication services & promotional tools;
- Development & implementation of Eurochild’s membership recruitment strategy including coordinating with other team members on reaching out to & meeting prospective members;
- Following through membership applications & communication related to membership questions;
- Tracking members’ involvement; develop & facilitate implementation of related processes & databases;
- Mapping of members’ expertise & knowledge and facilitation of regular contact with members;
- Relations with & support to Eurochild national partner networks, including coordination of their bi-annual meetings, facilitation of their engagement with Eurochild’s work & implement their regular review process;
- Keeping track of developments regarding national child rights coalitions in Europe; supporting emerging networks & encouraging their membership of Eurochild.
Support and supervision
The Membership and Network Development Officer will report to the Director of Operations. He/she will also receive support from the Eurochild management board Sub-Committee on Membership which meets roughly bi-monthly and involves two Management Board Members.
Candidate requirements
Essential
- 3-5 years’ relevant work experience & ability to provide 2 professional references;
- Commitment and interest in children’s rights;
- Curious and open minded with good listening skills & appetite for learning and personal & professional growth;
- Ability to work autonomously as well as being a good team worker;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and able to multitask and prioritize;
- Excellent networking & communications skills;
- Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and a willingness to learn to use and help us update and improve Eurochild’s various online tools and databases;
- Flexibility and readiness to work in a small, interdependent and international team;
- Fluency in written and spoken English, other languages are an advantage.
Desirable
- Experience of working with or for non-governmental organisations;
- Experience of membership-based networks working at national, European or international level;
- Solid theoretical understanding of children’s rights;
- Experience with use of CRM tools or databases.
Conditions
- 2,400-2,600€ monthly gross salary depending on experience;

- Preferred starting date: February 2020;
- Type of contract: Full-time permanent contract.
