The CIDSE Secretariat, located in Brussels, is currently looking for a:

Communications Officer

to join its secretariat and strengthen our vibrant and international team of engaged professionals committed to global solidarity and justice, by helping to produce vibrant communications content about our areas of work.  

The position is full time with the possibility of 80 %. We offer an indeterminate term contract, dependent on funding.

Your responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Communications Manager and in collaboration with the Communications and Administrative Assistant and occasional communications interns, you:

  • Contribute to in-house and contractual production of multimedia content: video clips, animation, photography, graphics, infographics;
  • Manage CIDSE social media channels by regularly collecting and analyzing performance and drafting social media content;
  • Write, edit and proofread statements, press releases, publications, web pages and blog articles;
  • Monitor the CIDSE website’s inbound traffic and suggest communications improvements accordingly;
  • Manage website content;
  • Contribute to communications strategy.

Your profile:

  • You have 3 years of work experience in journalism, marketing or communications with a demonstrated portfolio of communications products;
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in the fields of communications, journalism, environmental or development studies;
  • You are familiar with software and platforms such as: Office online, Hubspot, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Canva;
  • You can manage online meetings via platforms and software such as Microsoft Teams, Padlet, Miro, and Zoom and have some familiarity with live-sketch note taking;
  • You have a creative aesthetic sensitivity;
  • You are comfortable working from home for some periods;
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact;
  • You have excellent written and oral communications skills in English – (native or near-native speaker). Other languages, particularly Spanish and French, are an asset;
  • You are proactive and have good team-working and multicultural skills, experience working in a network or multi-cultural NGO environment is an asset;
  • You are a good multi-tasker and strive for high-quality delivery;
  • You have an encouraging, collaborative, and open-minded attitude;
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social justice, global justice, and international development issues;
  • You are interested in and understand the values and mission of CIDSE.
