The branch of MDF Training & Consultancy in Brussels is searching to reinforce its team with a:  

Trainer and  project manager  related to EU development  and humanitarian  cooperation Based in Brussels 

Our company MDF Training & Consultancy  is a training & consultancy organisation founded in 1984 in the Netherlands. Rooted in development co-operation, it offers training & consultancy services in its training centre in the Netherlands as well as in ACP countries (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific), Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe to international and national governmental and nongovernmental organisations, the European Commissions, EU missions and institutions.   MDF Brussels  is the MDF office specialised in EU External Cooperation. In this context we contribute to capacity development through EU training programmes. We deliver technical assistance for capacity development programmes mainly in the field of:

• Project management (LFA, PCM, Theory of change and Monitoring & Evaluation);
• PRAG financial and contractual procedures (For services, supplies, works and grants)
• DG ECHO financial and contractual procedures
• Humanitarian aid (EU Aid Volunteers program)
• Training of Trainers
• Leadership skills Our clients are mainly the European Commission, NAOs, Ministries in ACP countries, private companies and NGOs.

In order to reinforce our team of EU experts in Brussels, we are looking for an experienced Trainer in the field of EU Development Cooperation, who has also ample project management experience. This post is now offered for 6 months, and extension will be considered after proven ability and availability of funding. 

Job description 

This job has two major components:

Training and Project Management

1) Reinforce the expertise of MDF Brussels team and deliver training and coaching in the following fields: 

Procurement procedures and service contract management in the context of EU external actions

Grants application process and management in the framework of EU External Action  Project & programme cycle management: planning, identification & formulation, project management, monitoring and evaluation  Management for development results, and the Aid effectiveness agenda 

Other PME methods (Theory of Change, Outcome Mapping, Appreciative Inquiry, Design thinking ...) 

2) Deliver consultancy and training via capacity strengthening activities, coaching, consultancy and evaluation missions.  Training and consultancy missions are mainly outside Europe. 

3) Contribute to the further development of MDF-Brussels via:  The acquisition (including proposal writing) of EU training & consultancy assignments   Proposal writing  Strengthen and maintain our client base  Project management and coordination for some of our long and short term assignments 

Requirements

• Relevant academic background – preferably a Master degree
• At least 5 years’ relevant experience in development cooperation and/or humanitarian aid
• Proven experience as a trainer, facilitator and project manager
• Relevant knowledge and demonstrable experience with EC procedures for external actions (PRAG, …)
• Relevant knowledge and demonstrable experience working in the humanitarian context
• Capacity to work autonomously as well as in a team
• Excellent proposal writer in English/French
• Excellent communication and listening skills, open-minded, interactive, empathic
• Analytic, excellent organisational and reporting skills
• Excellent command of French and English (spoken and written)
• Willing to travel abroad for assignments (mainly one-week duration missions)

ASSETS 

• Experience in design /or development of e-learning
• Experience in evaluation assignments
• Experience working with innovative facilitation techniques (i.e. graphic visualisation, design thinking, storytelling)
• Excellent command of Dutch and/or Spanish (spoken and written)
• Experience working with other DGs of the European Commission in training assignments
