Organising Authorities Manager

To join our Knowledge and Innovation team

ROLE

The OA (Organising Authorities) Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating all the knowledge and research activities of interest for Organising Authorities that conciliate the needs of the sector and the association and expectations of members.
This includes in particular the activities led by the OA Committee “. The role of the OA Committee (OAC) is to cooperate with the whole UITP membership to collect, develop and provide knowledge on issues ranging from market organisation and governance to regulatory frameworks, funding and financing.
The OAC Manager is in charge of the knowledge production related to issues of interest to Organising Authorities, as diverse as PT operations, integration of new mobility services, sustainable and integrated mobility plans, land value capture and other funding and financing mechanisms for mobility…. This includes also the contribution or coordination of dedicated projects internal to UITP or funded by third parties.
He/She is responsible for facilitating the exchange and interaction with the other actors of the sector, in particular members from the industry and operators.
The mission includes the support to the creation of Organising Authorities around the World, for a more integrated urban mobility and an increase in Public Transport Services quality, in collaboration with local and international actors and institutions.
He/She will work closely with other committees’ manager in particular the Mobility Governance, Transport Economics and Transport and Urban life ones.
This position implies leadership, consensus-building and diplomatic skills to conciliate the different interests of the actors to move positions forward in line with the association’s and sector’s strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads knowledge and research in topics of interest for OA that conciliate the needs of the sector and the association and expectations of members;
2. Ensures that knowledge elaboration and research output related to OA contribute to added value services to the direct benefits of members and answers the priorities of the UITP Integrated Global Work Programme;
3. Coordinates the work of the dedicated Committee and its working groups (studies, reports, position papers, articles) and manage members and chair expectations and involvement;
4. Manages or support projects including from proposal preparation to execution, including budget and resources forecast and management;
5. Contributes to the writing of papers and articles related to topics relevant for OA.
6. Provides scientific input and support to events (summit, conferences, workshops, seminars, trainings…);
7. Participates in events external to UITP to communicate about messages or knowledge delivered by the Committee or by projects related to OA;
8. Manages the relationship with several key accounts of premium members;
9. Support the Mobility Governance Unit leader and cooperate with other managers from the unit;
10. Cooperates with the Director and Deputy Directors of Department;
11. Fulfils his/her mission according to the internal culture based on RISE values (Respect, Innovation, Sharing, Expertise), the code of conduct, and on the principles of caring management. In team or project management, this implies providing the colleagues employees with guidance, leadership and support, ensuring their development and well-being, while being responsible for enforcing corporate policies and procedures standards;

PROFILE

  • University degree (preferably in urban or transport planning)
  • Experience in working with cities and public authorities (ex. SUMP…) is a must
  • Experience in management of internal and externally funded projects would be an asset
  • Interest for Public Transport
  • Strong communication skills with capacity to produce and write reports but also to animate a group of experts and synthetize the knowledge
  • Excellent written and spoken English, other languages are an asset
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to an audience
  • Good relational competences (sense of listening, empathy, ability to lead group discussion, team work, diplomacy)
  • Service oriented Capability to work both in team but also autonomously with limited set of inputs
  • IT literate
  • Sense of initiative, problems solving
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Integrity and professionalism
