This exciting role is at the cut and thrust of EU policy making, representing Europe’s food and drink businesses to help shape more sustainable food systems. The successful candidate will have experience working with EU policymakers, managing stakeholder relationships and developing public affairs strategies. The position will support the entire FoodDrinkEurope team and report to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs.
Key responsibilities:
- Working within the Communications and Public Affairs department to develop public affairs strategies to further the aims and objectives of FoodDrinkEurope.
- Coordinating FoodDrinkEurope’s engagement with MEPs and other Brussels stakeholders on a wide range of legislative and non-legislative matters.
- Building relationships with key policymakers, policy advisers and stakeholders across all EU institutions.
- Monitoring activities within the European Parliament of relevance to the food and drink industry and providing concise, targeted, and timely reports to staff and members.
- Attending parliamentary, and other meetings as required, and providing oral updates and advice on legislative developments.
- Assisting in the writing and development of online and print materials such as position papers, brochures, reports, infographics and website copy.
- Supporting the development and execution of reputational and policy-related communications campaigns.
- Playing an active role in the planning and delivery of in-person and online events.
- Supporting social media activities.
Requirements:
- Fluent in English. Another EU language would be an asset.
- At least five years of experience in public affairs. Preferably working directly within an EU institution or for an organisation that engages with the EU institutions.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
- An ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Strong written skills.
- An ambitious, positive and pro-active outlook.
