The EPC is looking for a Policy Analyst to join its Europe in the World programme to cover political, economic and security issues affecting the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and/or EU-Asia political, economic and security relations. This will include following developments in the region and their impact on the EU and its ties with the regional states, along with the role of the EU on key regional security issues including the Iran nuclear deal, Gulf security and the conflicts in Syria and Libya, and/or EU-Asia relations with a particular focus on China.

The successful candidates should have a solid academic background, knowledge of EU institutions, a thorough understanding of current policy developments in the MENA region and/or EU-Asia relations and experience in writing policy papers and organising events.

The candidate should have the following profile:

  • University degree in a relevant subject;
  • At least three years of relevant work experience (other than internships), including in policy analysis;
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of the MENA region and/or EU-Asia relations with a particular focus on China;
  • A good knowledge of EU policies and instruments;
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write and publish high-quality policy analysis;
  • Strong interest in European affairs;
  • Ability to engage and network with experts and interested stakeholders;
  • Experience delivering presentations and speaking at conferences;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Dynamic, flexible, reliable and attentive to detail;
  • Fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic/Farsi or Chinese would be useful.

The main tasks are:

  • Development and implementation of the EPC’s activities related to the MENA region and/or EU-Asia partnerships mainly with China;
  • Research and writing policy analyses;
  • Overseeing/organising and moderating events (drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, identifying and contacting speakers);
  • Liaising with external experts and interested stakeholders, as well as building and maintaining a network;
  • Representing the EPC at external events;
  • Supporting/leading fundraising activities for the Programme in the relevant policy areas;
  • Producing new ideas and taking initiative on projects and activities.
