EUROCITIES, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a deputy projects director to work in the EUROCITIES Brussels office, ideally starting at the beginning of September 2020.

Responsibilities

As deputy projects director, you will work with the projects and knowledge sharing director, managing our team of project coordinators working on EU-funded projects (mainly H2020 and AMIF) and service contracts, and contribute to the implementation of specific projects in the field of climate, environment and digital.

In this role, you will:

  • manage a team of project coordinators, ensuring the sound planning, management, implementation and reporting of EUROCITIES projects;
  • ensure the delivery of the information and advice service to members about funding opportunities;
  • contribute to the implementation of EU-funded projects in the field of climate, environment and smart cities;
  • liaise with the finance manager and projects finance officer to ensure administrative and financial support structures for projects, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting;
  • identify project opportunities and negotiate, coordinate and supervise the preparation of project applications with project partners;
  • create potential opportunities for new business beyond EU funding (e.g. services to members or synergies with foundations);
  • liaise with the communications team to optimise the visibility of projects and the dissemination outcomes;
  • liaise with the executive director and the policy director to ensure synergies between projects and EUROCITIES’ policy and corporate priorities.

Profile

You have:

  • 7-8 years of proven project management skills, including project planning, implementation and financial planning and management;
  • a 7-8 year track record of successful EU project bidding and management in roles both as project partner and coordinator, and including reporting to and liaising with EU institutions, ideally across a diverse range of thematic programmes;
  • expertise in EU funding programmes relevant to cities;
  • full knowledge and expertise in project management cycle;
  • a broad grasp of EU policies affecting cities;
  • strong experience on management of H2020 funded projects;
  • strong expertise in the fields of climate and digital transformation, applied to cities;
  • strong interpersonal skills, facilitation skills for an international environment;
  • experience in EU project development and bidding;
  • experience in managing a team, demonstrating good people management skills, being able to support, develop, motivate, and maximise the potential of staff;
  • excellent organisational and planning skills;
  • C1 level in English, oral and written;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • a problem-solving attitude, attention to detail, initiative and self-motivating.
