The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) - the world’s leading think tank for science and technology policy, based in Washington, D.C. - seeks a Brussels-based senior policy analyst for its clean energy innovation program. The analyst will be hired on a renewable annual contract, contingent on future funding.

The successful candidate will analyze a wide range of policies in the EU and United Kingdom that have the potential to influence the global transition to a low-carbon energy system. Duties will include carrying out original and secondary research on issues such as the impact of R&D funding, taxation, and regulation on energy innovation, as well as communicating findings in written and oral form to the transatlantic policy and advocacy communities.

The ideal applicant will be an excellent writer who is able to produce high-quality content quickly on deadline. The analyst must have an existing base of knowledge and relationships in the energy innovation policy field to draw upon as well as a firm understanding of broader European policy issues. While based in Brussels, the analyst will report to ITIF’s senior fellow for clean energy innovation policy in Washington, D.C.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct a research program on clean energy innovation policy in the EU and United Kingdom;
  • Write and present clear and incisive policy analyses in a variety of venues and formats, including reports, conferences, op-eds, one-on-one meetings, and social media;
  • Organize and host events that illuminate important issues and draw attention to ITIF’s clean energy innovation research;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, NGO and academic experts, business leaders, and members of the media.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in public policy, energy technology, or a related field;
  • Three years or more of relevant experience analyzing public policy issues and advocating for solutions;
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills;
  • Proven record of communicating clearly and persuasively to expert and non-expert audiences;
  • Keen interest in clean energy, innovation, and public policy;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on analytical products in a fast-paced, distance-working environment;
  • Ability to network and build relationships with diverse colleagues.
