We are seeking to recruit a dynamic team-oriented individual with experience of the Brussels regulatory environment to join our team of financial sector consultants.

Our consultants are engaged across the full spectrum of Kreab services to the financial sector – involving advocacy advice, regulatory risk analysis, investment due diligence, corporate profile raising and events.

We are one of the foremost EU affairs consultancies, with around 50 EU Affairs specialists in the Brussels office. Our EU practice coordinates our activities across Europe in the financial sector. We are an international multi-lingual team, based in the heart of the European quarter, with a world-class portfolio of clients and offices in 25 other countries – in particular across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

The role:

We are looking for a junior level consultant with a strong interest in the financial services industry and in the regulation and policy impacting the financial sector. The role will require frequent interaction with the EU institutions and national regulators and ministries. Some travel to London, Paris and Frankfurt will also be required.

The consultant will work with client teams across banking, investment, asset management and fintech primarily, as well as multi-office Kreab assignments and will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring the EU political decision-making process in the financial services space with a focus on banking, insurance and markets legislation;
  • Delivering analysis and intelligence on relevant EU policy issues as well as preparing written briefings and intelligence reports, taking into account clients’ priorities and interests;
  • Preparing and implementing stakeholder engagement for clients;
  • Assisting in the drafting of briefing documents, messaging and positioning for clients;
  • Developing internal and external networks to provide valuable insight for Kreab and its clients;
  • Supporting the team in organizing events with EU policymakers and various stakeholders on financial services matters.

Specific requirements include:

  • 1-2 years relevant experience, at least partially within economic and/or financial services sectors or EU/national institutions, with established credibility and judgement to counsel clients from day one;
  • Knowledge of and interest in EU policies, processes and politics;
  • Proven capacity to collaborate effectively within an international team, requiring both cultural flexibility and a team-spirited approach;
  • The capacity to analyze and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing;
  • Very strong attention to detail and time management skills;
  • A capacity to build networks and gather intelligence;
  • Proven organizational capacity, including for event and client management;
  • Ability and desire to support our business development processes and to contribute to the constant improvement of the firms’ services;
  • Fluent English. Knowledge of other European languages would be an additional asset;
  • Knowledge of national policies and politics in a European member state an advantage.
