We are looking for candidates to cover a parental leave in the Corporate Governance & Internal Policies (CG&IP) division in its mission. S(h)e will help achieve the realization of the ESM’s objectives by facilitating ESM decision-making processes, ensuring smooth working relations with the ESM's internal and external stakeholders and helping organise high-level events. The selected candidate will work in the Corporate Governance team under the coordination of the Team Lead.
The European Stability Mechanism (“ESM”) is the permanent crisis resolution mechanism for the countries of the euro area. It has launched five financial assistance programmes, provided financial support, monitored repayment capacity and engaged with partner institutions in the design of programmes in particular in areas of financial interest. The ESM has just received an expanded mandate from the European Leaders, which it will implement in the months and years ahead. The ESM will have a stronger role in the analysis of financial stability risks and design of policy measures in programmes jointly with the European Commission. 
The ESM is a unique place to work  with around 180 individuals committed to making a difference to the future of the euro area. It recruits talented professionals of any nationality from both the private and public sector.

KEY ACTIVITIES
  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of Board and Committee meetings, including the drafting of speaking points, and ensure proper follow-up on Board deliberations;
  • Serving as secretary to a Board Committee, whenever necessary;
  • Drafting minutes of Board and Committee meetings;
  • Leading on the preparation and delivery of an internal Governance newsletter;
  • Maintaining and developing relations with ESM Members and their representatives;
  • Handling Governing bodies’ correspondence, including responses to information requests from ESM Members;
  • Conducting research for briefings notes for senior management;
  • Supporting the preparation of public events organised by CGIP, such as the ESM Annual Meeting and Shareholders’ Day, and other high-level meetings; 
  • Supporting updates of the ESM website;
  • Providing support to different initiatives and ad-hoc tasks within the CG&IP division.

KEY BACKGROUND
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in European studies, Political science, Business Administration, International Relations, or similar
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in corporate governance is an asset
  • Good understanding of the general framework of financial institutions or public international institutions would be an asset
  • IT literate- proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Fluent written and oral English, with very good drafting skills
